Edifier G4 Gaming Headset: Affordable Gaming, Music HeadsetTime: Jan. 7, 2020
Everyone has their own audio preferences. Some prefer to focus on clarity, while others want more serious. The gaming headsets are for games, but many are missing in the audio department compared to standard headsets.
Today we have headsets for games suitable for games and music. This is the Edifier G4 TE 7.1 Surround Sound USB RGB Esports Gaming Headset. Let's take a look.
The Edifier G4 gaming headset seem to have taken certain design elements from Sony and SteelSeries. It has some similarities with the Sony Extra Bass headsets in terms of cushioning, since the pads are remarkably thick to provide additional comfort during long hours of use.
The sliding microphone is similar to the SteelSeries Arctis 5, which can be hidden in the headset when you don't want to use it.
The Edifier G4 controller offers four different functions: vibration effect on/off, mute sound, volume switch and headphone on/off. While the mute button and volume control are obvious, the lack of labeling for vibration and performance can be confusing.
The USB cable is wrapped in rubber and not gold plated. However, a gold-plated USB connector does not improve performance. I was told that I had a ferrite core that blocked unwanted noise, producing a clean sound without audible noise.
Using the Edifier G4 gaming headset is simple. Simply connect the headsets to your PC via USB and the necessary drivers will be installed automatically.
The headset is very comfortable to wear. Compared to its predecessor, the Edifier G3, I can use it for hours without feeling like my ears are falling and it's not too hot.
The microphone has nothing to fear. It's good enough to chat online, but nothing more. If you want to use this function for professional recording, it is better to buy a separate microphone. However, if you just want to talk with friends, this is easily possible.
Since this is a USB gaming headset, it works with the PlayStation 4. While the standard headsets must be connected to the DualShock 4 controller's headset jack, you only need to connect the USB cable directly to the console.
In terms of audio quality, this is no different from connecting to a PC. However, keep in mind that you cannot activate the virtual surround effect if you connect it directly to PlayStation 4 and the Edifier Audio Center software is not available. For most games, the vibration effect makes the game's audio more comfortable, giving you an impressive experience.
The Edifier G4 gaming headset is an excellent option for those who don't want to spend a lot on a headset. It's a priority when you play, but listening to music is surprisingly fun if you're a serious lover. Edifier G4 for $62.32, available at bzfuture.com. The Edifier G4 is still a good value.
