Microsoft cuts Office 2019 one-time licenses through a home use planTime: Aug. 22, 2019
Microsoft has turned much of its software into a subscription model and the latest news from Office 2019 announce another change.
The Microsoft suite of programs was available as a single and perpetual license through the company's home use program. With HUP, some companies may offer employees reduced rates for software they can use at home from their workplace.
Office Professional Plus 2019 and Office Home and Business 2019 have been removed as single licenses under the program. In contrast, HUP grants a 30% discount on annual desktop software subscriptions. In Office 365 Personnel, HUP members are priced at $48.99 per year and in Office 365 Home Edition at $69.99 per year. The features of both subscriptions are identical: premium versions of Microsoft programs, 1TB OneDrive cloud storage and OneDrive ransomware discovery.
For a small impression, a perpetual license purchased from HUP will continue to work. And once you have purchased a Microsoft subscription through HUP, you can keep the price lower, even if you leave this employer.
For users, the subscription model can be more a combination. Subscriptions ensure that customers always benefit from the company's latest functions and support.
