What you need to know: An important update to OfficeTime: Nov. 8, 2019
It's almost a footnote in the large amount of news that Microsoft publishes on the first day of its biggest conference of the year, but OneNote 2016 is coming back to life. Add new features for the first time since it was changed to maintenance mode last year.
Microsoft has also announced that the OneNote desktop application will be included in the new Office 365 installations and will be included in Office 2019 for the first time. Already in April 2018, Microsoft announced that OneNote 2016 would not be included in Office 2019. Users should use OneNote for Windows 10.
However, OneNote for Windows 10 seems to step back as soon as OneNote 2016 is reactivated. Today's news is unprecedented, as Microsoft worked hard to cancel OneNote 2016 for the OneNote UWP application.
OneNote 2016 will be included in the new installations of Office 365 and Office 2019 from March 2020. Microsoft indicates that the new product support date is October 23, 2023 for standard support and October 14, 2025 for support extended, if it was the case before, it should end in 2020.
